I have about $35,000 invested in mutual funds over the past few months that is down to about $25,000 now and while i'm only 30 and have plenty of time to wait for them to go back up again, i'm wondering if there is a tax benefit for me to sell them before the end of the year to use the losses as a tax deduction? I'm thinking about getting out of the mutual funds anyways in the next year or so to focus more on buying individual stocks but i just don't know whether to cash out before the end of the year, or wait it out a bit longer. Is there a tax benefit to selling the funds now? Thanks for any advice.... Just to clarifiy, this is not a retirement fund, it is completely separate from my IRA....
